badly worn boys

badly worn boys are a trio of accomplished musicians who have found a curious pleasure in dissecting classic punk rock songs and arranging them for acoustic guitars.
All three were around and playing during the punk explosion of the late 1970’s and have joined forces to work with the very music that encouraged them to pick up guitars and form bands in the first place. The trio, based on the Norfolk coast, are Bruno - on acoustic guitar & vocals, John – also on acoustic guitar & vocals and Tim – on bass & vocals.
Badly Worn Boys blend a variety of styles in their arrangements to compliment and challenge the original versions, with elements of country, bluegrass, pop, jazz & swing all rising to the surface from time to time. Sometimes the songs are twisted almost out of recognition and there is a Rolf Harris moment from the audience (“Can you guess what it is yet?”) usually with smiles of recognition when the chorus arrives!
Badly Worn Boys recently appeared at Wymondham Central Hall (24th November 2007) as the warm-up act for the amazing John Otway Big Band and have enjoyed radio airplay and interviews on the Sue Marchant show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire / Norfolk / Suffolk, most recently playing three songs live on air over Christmas 2007. They also occassionally appear in Norwich at the Music House (Friday nights at Jurnet’s Bar, Wensum Lodge, Kings Street) and at the Acoustic Showcases in the Café Bar at the Norwich Arts Centre on St Benedicts. They are also booked to play Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle Dorset in July.
The group have recorded a three track e.p. entitled ‘Middle Age Kicks’, featuring the three classic punk songs ‘Pretty Vacant’ by the Sex Pistols, ‘In The City’ by The Jam and ‘Teenage Kicks by The Undertones, available as a free mp3 download from www.badlywornboys.com and www.myspace.com/badlywornboys.
